Indivisible of Coos County is a grassroots community organization dedicated to protecting democracy, defending civil rights, and building a more just, inclusive, and accountable society for all.
We empower residents of Coos County to engage in the democratic process through education, advocacy, and collective action. We work to ensure that the government serves the public interest, that every voice is heard, and that all people are treated with dignity and respect.
Through community organizing, public participation, and nonviolent civic engagement, we strive to strengthen democratic institutions, promote economic fairness, protect fundamental freedoms, and support policies that improve the lives of working people.
We believe that democracy is strongest when ordinary people come together to solve common challenges, hold leaders accountable, and create a future that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
What we do
- Rallies on the first and third Saturday of the month. The location is posted on the Events page.
- Monthly meetings on the second Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1290 Thompson Rd, Coos Bay. Leadership reports what it is doing, members vote on where the group stands, and everyone gets to say what matters most going forward.
- Advocacy with our partner organization SCHEC, the South Coast Health Equity Coalition. We meet twice monthly to report, research and organize on the issues that affect people here.
- Local campaigns on the things our members decide to take on, from police surveillance oversight in North Bend to corporate money in Oregon politics.
- Election work every cycle: plain-language voter information, coverage of the county’s ballot drop boxes, and trained observers watching the count at the Coos County Elections Office.
Our campaigns
- Get the FLOCK out of North Bend: written policies and real community oversight of surveillance technology, through a CCOPS model.
- Stop Oregon corporations from contributing to politics: our campaign to have Oregon define corporations as entities without the right to contribute to political campaigns or policies, the fix Hawaii and Montana already use.
